While I have you here I would love your thoughts on what’s next for Create Change Chesterfield. Please spare some time for that, It’s hugely valuable to me, and here’s why…
A chance to be heard
I would like to live in a society where we all have an ability to create change in our world. Having a voice in the decisions that effect us is so important and it’s something that feels unsteady right now. Create Change was set up to explore this and to find ways to improve things. It has led to me exploring ideas around democracy. Our current democratic techniques don't allow space for citizens to explain their real needs and concerns. A single vote can be lost in a sea of votes. Your intentions for making that vote can also be interpreted in any number of ways by those in political power. On top of that the divisive discourse that we’ve seen so much of recently will not lead to a better society, but perhaps opportunities to work collaboratively with our fellow citizens could lead to change on issues where we really need it. Shall we try it out?
I’d like to live these ideas in the Create Change project- so are you ready to be heard? I’m taking direction from you! What are your priorities? In 2019 the top priority was the climate emergency, and of course that is still high on many people’s agenda. Help us know your thoughts by visiting the feedback table.
